    The Sly Fox Track Club is working to assemble a group of volunteers to help Pottsgrove High School host a 9th- and 10th-grade invitational on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The club on its Facebook page reported Pottsgrove had requested its assistance if possible, and club officials seemed to respond enthusiastically. "This is a good way to give back," promote the organization, and meet potential future members "while helping a great program at Pottsgrove," it said in a status update posted Sunday night .

    A so-far unidentified Lower Pottsgrove police officer suffered minor injuries but is recovering at home, and an also unidentified male suspect whose car struck the officer in an attempt to flee a traffic stop is wounded and in custody, after shots were fired during an incident Thursday that began at 8:45 p.m. in Sanatoga and ended in Pottstown. Township Police Chief Michael Foltz said his patrolman is resting at home with his family after having been treated and released from Reading Hospital.

    Residents of Lower Pottsgrove, Limerick, Pottstown and other municipalities within a five-county area of southeastern Pennsylvania may be entitled to $15 in cash or invoice credits from Comcast Corp. if they are current customers of the company or its affiliates for more than basic cable channels, or were customers between January 2003 through December 2008, according to advertisements published Sunday . The refunds are part of a settlement in a class action lawsuit filed against Comcast, alleging it conducted "certain business practices resulted in subscribers paying higher prices for cable TV services in the Philadelphia area," defined as Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.

Sanatoga Rd. in Lower Pottsgrove, is asking the state to renew its existing water discharge permit there for another five-year period, and to allow it to increase the number of gallons it releases daily into Sanatoga Creek. The request for renewal of the quarry's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit was announced Friday in a legal advertisement published on the company's behalf.

    Because the hills were alive with the sound of snow crunching under foot on the first day of spring, Pottsgrove High School postponed Friday's performance of "The Sound Of Music" to a Sunday 2 p.m. matinee, and also rescheduled its planned dedication of the high school auditorium stage for Saturday at 7 p.m. Both changes were announced in e-mails widely distributed Friday morning by the Pottsgrove School District. It also dismissed classes early Friday, and postponed all other after-school and evening activities due to the weather.
