While the crash involving officer Silvio Portillo is the most serious officer-involved crash Port Orange Police has had to deal with in the last several years, the 27-year-old Portillo is one of 15 area officers - including a volunteer officer and an animal control officer - who wrecked their work vehicles last year while on duty, records show.
