    Yaara Tal, an Israeli army veteran, and Deema Yusuf, a daughter of Ramallah, Palestine, will speak about their common hopes this evening in a free program at the Jefferson County Library, 620 Cedar Ave. In their 6:30 p.m. talk, the two young women will be joined by Dottie Indyke, executive director of Creativity for Peace, the nonprofit group that brought Yusuf and Tal together. Yusuf, 19, is a Palestinian who came from her childhood home in Ramallah on the West Bank to attend Creativity for Peace's summer camp in Santa Fe, N.M., in 2012.

Teen programs will begin at 2:45 p.m. Kids will join in from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. The programs will rotate themes for each week. The first Thursday of each month will have the theme of Game Time.

    A 21-year-old Port Townsend man was listed in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center on Saturday after he was struck by two vehicles on state Highway 19 south of Port Hadlock on Friday night. Steven A. Springgate was airlifted to the Seattle hospital after being struck by a 1987 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Natalia M. Collier, 29, of Chimacum and a 1995 Ford Contour driven by Jason L. McCloskey, 34, of Oak Harbor, according to the State Patrol.
