    The sentencings of two Meigs County men who took pleas in a 2013 assault case have been continued to Jan. 12, 2015. James M. Gray V, 21 and Garrett C. Hall, 19, of Pomeroy, Ohio, both entered guilty pleas to the misdemeanor offense of battery, according to records filed in the office of Mason County Circuit Clerk Bill Withers.

    A young man from Meigs County convicted in 2013 of unlawful assault has filed a motion for early release from the Anthony Correctional Center for youthful offenders. Jose F. Whitlach, 21, Pomeroy, Ohio, entered his guilty plea in October of last year and was then sentenced in Mason County Circuit Court by Judge Thomas C. Evans, III, in February of this year.

Brickles, 22, was set to go Tuesday morning with a pool of jurors waiting to be chosen to hear the case when Brickles accepted a plea deal from the Mason County Prosecuting Attorney's Office at the eleventh hour.
