    For its final screening of the year, the Piedmont Appreciating Diversity Films series will explore the lives of two African-American students taught in a mostly white private school in New York City, a 13-year journey documented by two parents. In "American Promise," filmmaker Michele Stephenson and husband Joe Brewster tell the tale of their son Idris and his best friend Seun beginning at age 5 through the end of high school.

    New LED lights will be used on the City of Piedmont's holiday tree at 7 p.m. Wednesday during the Piedmont Beautification Foundation's Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in Piedmont Park. According to PBF, the 1,500 bulbs used to light the tree have been changed by city workers, who tested and placed the new bulbs in the existing strands.
