    The first reading of legislation approving a new annexation agreement between the city of Pickerington and Violet Township was met by a 6-1 vote of Pickerington City Council Jan. 20. The agreement involves the Smith/Sanders properties, land situated in the township that comprises roughly 36 acres located to the southeast of the Refugee and Pickerington roads intersection. Under the agreement, 3 acres of land owned by the Ricketts family will connect the Smith/Sanders property to the city of Pickerington in order to comply with the rules of contiguity for annexations.
