    A man hired to renovate a Payson theatre allegedly torched his employer's home last year after the project came to a halt. Shawn Balzly, 44, was charged Wednesday in 4th District Court with aggravated arson, a first-degree felony, and obstructing justice, a second-degree felony for the May 2013 fire.

    The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced today the public open house for the new Payson Utah temple will start Friday, April 24 and go through Saturday, May 23. Tours will run Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The new temple is located at 1494 South 930 West in Payson. Tickets are free but required and can be obtained by visiting templeopenhouse.lds.org or calling 1-800-537-6214.

Those who got a normal night's rest and waited till midmorning to log on to templeopenhouse.lds.org to reserve free tickets reported trouble finding available night, weekend and even afternoon time slots to the open house, which begins Friday, April 24, and runs through May 23. High demand was expected for the month-long event, because an open house is a rare opportunity for LDS children and those of other faiths or no faith to visit a temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
