    What started as a small blaze in hay bales stacked in a garage turned into a raging fire on Dale's Lane on November 21 that destroyed the sole residence on the private drive. Fire departments from Penobscot, Brooksville, Blue Hill, Brooklin, Castine, Orland and Sedgwick responded to the call for assistance from the Regional Communications Center in Ellsworth shortly after 5 p.m., which also placed the Deer Isle fire department on standby.

    Theodore Gray, a 34-year-old lobsterman from Orland, will spend two days in Hancock County Jail and pay a $50,000 fine after pleading guilty to possession of undersized and V-notched lobsters, both Class D crimes, and molesting lobster equipment, a civil violation. He appeared in Ellsworth District Court on October 17. Department of Marine Resources Commissioner Patrick Keliher also suspended Gray's license for three years, beginning June 23 of this year, according to a press release from the Maine Department of Marine Resources.
