    Oconee County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Oconee County Middle School on Dec. 10, where school officials found a 12-year-old student in possession of a gun, a bag of leafy materials and another bag of chunky white powder. Upon closer inspection, the items were found to be a BB pistol, crushed leaves and kaolin powder, according to the report.

    Oconee County Thursday removed the two-sided sign that Jamie Boswell, District 10 representative to the state Transportation Board, had at the southwest corner of SR 316 and the Oconee Connector more than seven months after the county asked Boswell to move the sign. Oconee County Code Enforcement sent Boswell a letter on Oct. 17 setting a deadline of Nov. 17 for him to bring the sign into compliance with the county's ordinance, which prohibits signs in the public right of way.
