    A developer expects to break ground this fall on a residential and retail complex that will accommodate four commercial storefronts and 24 apartments at 369-377 Main St. in Niantic. The plan calls for commercial spaces on the first floor along Main Street with residential units on the second and third floors, said local developer Gary D. Smith, a special engineer under GDS Capital Holdings LLC. Design plans show the complex, called Bayside, as a light-colored, white-trimmed building with clapboard siding, rooftop gables on either end of the building, balconies for some units and lansdcaping around the building.
