Himes, Jr. Survivors include his daughters, Cynthia Rice of New Middletown and Kristy Lowe of Youngstown; son, Larry A. Himes of Columbiana; sisters, Kathleen Weiser and Esther Paterno both of Youngstown; brother, John Himes of Poland; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Operation New Hope, a nonprofit based in the neighborhood, and the city of Jacksonville celebrated a ground-breaking Tuesday at the future site of the Henrietta Dozier Apartments at 122 W. Eighth St. The city has given about $2.5 million in federal funds to the nonprofit, and Wells Fargo donated another $100,000.
