    New Palestine, IN and Matthew and Lisa Cooper of Washington DC; grandchildren, Jessica and Joe Jackson of New Palestine, Robert Cooper of Indianapolis, Megan Cooper, Matthew Cooper and Kelsey Cooper Ocean City, MD and nieces Peggy Barrus of Las Vegas, NV and Jane Gruhler of Annapolis, MD. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death in 2010 by his loving wife of 67 years Margaret Jean Cooper. He was also preceded in death by sisters Fay Silver and Sylvia Cooper. Sam married his wife Margaret Jean Mitchell on January 16, 1943. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army Corps. He served in Europe and was honorably discharged in 1946. After discharge, Sam began his career as a commercial artist in Philadelphia. He and his family moved to Indianapolis in 1966. Over the years, he worked for a number of advertising agencies and in 1984 retired from MZD. Sam was an accomplished artist and after retirement continued to devote his time to art and often volunteered his talents to his church. In 1999 Sam and Margaret moved from Indianapolis to New Palestine, IN to be close to their family. Sam was a generous and kind individual who was loved by his family and many friends. His beautiful spirit will be missed by all. The friendship and compassion demonstrated by his extended family, friends and Christ Church Cathedral "family" is greatly appreciated. Sam's family also extends thanks to the staff and residents of the Altenheim and the staff of Kindred Hospice for the care, compassion and friendship they gave to Sam. The funeral mass and celebration of Sam's life is scheduled for March 31, 2015 at 11:00 am at Christ Church Cathedral, Indianapolis. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sam's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Christ Church Cathedral at 125 Monument Cir, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Arrangements by Flanner and Buchanan - Market Street.

Ford Sailors recently selected for commissioning as limited-duty officers after 12 years of service. She credits her success in the Navy to the support and encouragement of the sailors around her, and soon her life will change again as she transitions into the role of a commissioned officer.
