    MUNCIE, Ind. - Charlene M. Austin died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Golden Living Care in Muncie after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Austin in 2002 and parents Herbert and Edith Stonebraker of Richmond. She is survived by sons, Brad Austin and Steve Austin both of Muncie; brother, Robert Stonebraker of Richmond; cousin, Darlene (Meeks) Chenoweth of Liberty Indiana, Raymond Meeks (wife, Sheila) of Punta Gorda, Florida and Cheryl Beatty (husband, Tim) of Hagerstown. Charlene was talented in music, singing and a lover of live theatre and the arts. She was an avid stock car race fan and followed the Bicknell Race Team, Baystone Construction Racing Team and ASA Racing, as well as NASCAR. She and her husband were the developer's owner-operators of Prairie Creek Campground (now Mt. Pleasant Campground) which they ran for sixteen years. Charlene and Bob were avid travelers. After extensively traveling the United States, they chose Siesta Key, Florida as their spot for vacation home. Charlene was active in Republican politics and volunteered for Congressman David McIntosh. Her first campaign involvement was on behalf of Congressman David W. Dennis of Richmond, Indiana. Charlene was a member of Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church and in later years attended Harris Chapel Church of the Nazarene. Special appreciation goes to Sharon Hofherr, LPN, retired from Golden Living Nursing Care facility for her outstanding professionalism and dedicated care. Private graveside services will be held Tuesday at Willow Grove Cemetery in Fountain City, Indiana, by Pastor Jim Ballenger of Harris Chapel. The family requests no flowers in favor of memorials to Pleasant Hill United Brethren, 11531 South. U.S. Hwy. 35, Muncie, Indiana 47302 or Harris Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 10450 South CR 544 East, Selma, Indiana 47383. Parson Mortuary in Muncie is in charge of arrangements. Among their holdings are several thousand still photos of the local area, as well as a couple thousand videos, most of them from TV state WLBC taken in the mid to late sixties, just prior to my permanent departure in 1969 for Denver.
