    The Mendocino Coast Recreation and Park District board of directors expressed strong interest in forming a partnership with the California Recreation Alliance to develop district property on Highway 20. The vision would be to locate an off-road vehicle park on the property. At the board's Thursday, Nov. 19 meeting, Sarah Huff, representing the California Recreation Alliance and California State Parks, proposed a partnership with the district to turn the 586-acre property on Highway 20 at Summers Lane into an off-road vehicle training facility for youth.

    A San Francisco attorney who filed a Public Records Act request on behalf of Mendocino County property owners who alleged their marijuana was raided for no reason by the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office over the summer, received an answer earlier this month from county counsel who said the request was too "vague" for much of the information he was seeking. Joe Elford filed the request with the county in mid-October, trying to get some answers for homeowners who have said their medical marijuana gardens were cut and left to die despite being within the county mandated 25-plant limit.

    Athena Renee Doyle, a McKinleyville mother accused of attempting to kill her two children in October by driving off a cliff, was in Mendocino County Superior Court on Wednesday morning and waived her right to a preliminary hearing, according to the Mendocino County District Attorney's Office. Doyle, 35, will face arraignment on attempted murder charges of her two younger children at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 4, said Mike Geniella, a Mendocino County DA spokesman.
