    Repairs could soon begin at Martinez Fishing Pier, which was damaged by fire and has been partially closed since Aug. 4. Marina commissioners and city officials discussed a timetable and got verbal agreement from the California Department of Water Resources to cover the cost of electrical repairs up to $5,000, during an Oct. 1 conference call. The small, nondescript wood building at the end of the pier is an environmental real-time monitoring station owned by the state and operated by Water Resources.
