    As the rain continues to pour early this week, warming centers continue to activate, with locations open Tuesday and Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Santa Barbara, Veterans Memorial Hall in Carpinteria, University United Methodist Church in Isla Vista, Peace Lutheran in Lompoc, and Salvation Army in Santa Maria. A handicap shuttle service will run to the Presbyterian Church from the Unitarian Society starting at 6 p.m. According to organizer Maria Long, 90 people stayed in warming shelters on the South Coast on Monday night, and she estimated about another 30 or so people visited shelters in North County.

Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to the scene near Ocean Avenue and Bailey Avenue at about 3:40; the Lompoc Fire Department also responded.

So now Lompoc, with a population of about 42,000, has two DMV offices, one of which appears to be for the exclusive use of illegal aliens.

    A man suffered major upper body injuries after being run over by a large farming tractor and trailer Monday afternoon near Lompoc, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department . Firefighters responded to an agricultural field near Ocean and Bailey avenues near the City of Lompoc at 3:40 p.m. and found a man in his 40s who had been run over by the tractor and trailer while working to pick lettuce in the field, County Fire spokesman Mike Eliason said.
