    The town of Clifton has been given the green light to establish an aquatic invasive species boat wash and inspection station on a portion of the former Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp. site in Star Lake. The St. Lawrence County Legislature voted 13-2 Monday evening to convey an easement to Clifton for a 4.9-acre parcel of property on the east side of County Route 60 and the north side of Route 3. The two opponents, Legislators Kevin M. Acres, R-Madrid, and David W. Forsythe, R-Lisbon, argued that there may be a better use for the property, which is part of the 54-acre J&L site to which the county took title last year as contamination cleanup continued.
