    Grayson County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a fugitive wanted by the US Marshal's Office on Monday, April 27. According to Sheriff Norman Chaffins, Deputies Clay Boone, Jeff King and Adam Cottrell coordinated the effort which brought 42-year-old Mark Christopher Beasley to justice. Upon receiving a tip from the Marshals Office that the fugitive may be at a residence in Leitchfield, the officers began the initiative which culminated in Beasley's arrest at a home on Hardin Road.

    The first meeting of the committee to discuss how to improve Leitchfield Fire Department compensation was held on Thursday, April 16. The topic of how much monetary compensation a volunteer Leitchfield firefighter should receive and when he or she should receive it has been the source of much discussion since learning that LFD volunteers may not be paid per hour of service but may be paid only one nominal fee per session of service. Legally, volunteer firefighters may not be paid an hourly wage because they are not technically employees of the City of Leitchfield, according to Leitchfield Finance Officer Erin Embry.
