The change still left the proposal -- asking for all residents over 21 to be able to possess less than one ounce of marijuana on private property -- six votes short of passing.

    More than a dozen people are displaced after a fire ripped through an adult foster care home in Flint early Wednesday morning, Dec. 3, said Flint fire Chief David Cox Jr. The call for the blaze in the 1200 block of Lapeer Road in Flint came in between 2 and 3 a.m., within an hour of another Flint fire that burned down a vacant house in the 4000 block of Mann Hall Avenue, according to Flint police. All 13 residents were able to escape safely and were kept warm inside an MTA bus that arrived while organizations such as the American Red Cross Genesee-Lapeer Chapter worked to find them a place to stay, Cox said.
