    The imposition of a slight increase to the city's sales tax two years ago has proved to be a lifesaver for the city of Kingman. Finance Director Tina Moline told Mayor Richard Anderson and the City Council at Monday's tentative budget and capital improvements work session that she projects coffers will plump up with nearly $2 million more than last year when fiscal year 2015-2016 begins July 1. Moline gave much of the credit to the half-cent increase, which pushed the city's overall sales tax to 2 cents for every $1 spent.

    The Mohave County Sheriff's Office is warning shopkeepers and anyone else who does cash business to be on the lookout for bogus $20 bills circulating in the county. Sheriff's office spokeswoman Trish Carter said two counterfeit $20 bills were passed at a pair of Kingman convenience stores this week, and citizens in the Fort Mohave area turned in two more fake bills.

Rudik Sargisov, 43, of Glendale was charged with felony counts of theft and fraudulent schemes and artifices, along with two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card.
