    Police are looking for a man who robbed the Hungry Howie's pizza shop in Jenison as an employee was closing the store early Saturday, Dec. 20. Ottawa County sheriff's deputies said an employee walked out the back door and was accosted by a man with a gun. The armed man then made the worker go back into the store and open the safe.

    A pizza take-out establishment in Jenison was the target of an armed robber overnight. According to Ottawa County Sheriff's Sergeant Matt Wildfong, an unnamed female staffer had locked up the Hungry Howie's store on Baldwin Street off of 20 Avenue around 12:30 AM when she was accosted.

    Between three and 10 years in prison was the sentence handed down to Jeffrey TenElshof, the 32-year-old Jenison man who was thrown the book by noted tough-on-crime Kent County Circuit Court Judge Mark Trusock. The juror refused to allow TenElshof to withdraw a guilty conversion plea, and shredded a deal the accused had made with prosecutors when it was learned that none of the 11 thousand dollars of restitution had been paid to the victims.

    GRAND RAPIDS Jenison's boys basketball team doesn't return a whole lot of experience from a year ago since the Wildcats graduated eight of its top nine players. The good news for Jenison, though, is that the Wildcats do return 6-foot-10 senior center Sam Szarowicz, who had 12 points, four rebounds and three blocked shots in Tuesday's 54-42 loss to Byron Center.
