    A mother and daughter were able to safely escape their Jeanerette home this morning when a fire engulfed their Florida Street house. The Jeanerette Fire Department responded to the house fire on Florida Street near Main Street at 11:08 a.m. today and extinguished the fire by 1 p.m. No one was injured in the fire and the cause is still under investigation.
