    The death of a 19-year-old Riverton man from a single-vehicle rollover on the Wind River Indian Reservation has been ruled a homicide. According to Fremont County Coroner Mark Stratmoen, Clay Walters died from "head and neck trauma from a single-vehicle rollover with ejection."

    The Wind River Visitors Council's Tourism Development Asset program has provided $100,379 to Riverton area organizations in the past year, Chamber of Commerce Director Jim Davis told the Riverton City Council Tuesday night. Davis said the WRVC spins off 25 percent of its funding between the five joint powers communities each year, including Riverton, Lander, Dubois, Shoshoni and Hudson for local tourism asset programs.

    Dr. Danny Walker, the Assistant State Archaeologist for the State of Wyoming, has announced his retirement, bringing to a close a 44-year career of dedicated public service. Walker's retirement will be effective Walker was a frequent guest at the Fremont County Archeological Society meetings in Hudson and completed many excavations in the area, most recently including the mysterious collection of fire pits found at the Sand Draw Landfill south of Riverton.

    The early a.m. fire on Jan. 3 was caused by a faulty ballast for a fluorescent light, Lander Fire Administrator Nick Hudson said. A valuation of the loss of the approximately 50-foot by 75-foot shop has not yet been completed.

    A 19-year-old Lander woman received serious injuries after being pinned between two trucks at an underage drinking party northeast of Hudson late Saturday night, Fremont County Undersheriff Ryan Lee reports. As a result of the incident, 20-year-old Lander man was arrested for Driving While under the Influence of Alcohol as a Youthful Offender.

    A 3.32-mile highway improvement project is scheduled to begin next week with work on the Little Wind River bridge south of Riverton on Wyoming 789. "The contractor is scheduled to close the pedestrian/bicycle pathway along Wyoming 789 on Monday, Nov. 17, and we expect concrete barrier placement and guardrail removal on the Little Wind River bridge, temporary fencing work, and other activity near the 789 Casino," according to Robert Scheidemantel, Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer in Riverton.
