    HINSDALE, N.H. >> An accident between a tractor trailer and a pick-up truck caused a traffic nightmare in downtown Brattleboro Wednesday morning. According to the Hinsdale Police Department, Norman Oakes, 65, of Brattleboro, was attempting to cross the Anna Hunt Marsh Bridge from Brattleboro into Hinsdale when his vehicle became trapped between a flatbed carrying a backhoe and the guardrail of the bridge.

Chief Todd Faulkner told the Reformer he got the nod last year to hire an officer to handle situations involving animals and it is possible the position could go to this individual, who Faulkner said has years of animal care experience.

    KEENE, N.H. >> Bail was set at $25,000 cash Friday for a Hinsdale man accused of possessing more than 100 images and 30 videos of child pornography. Dwight Smith, 42, said barely a word sitting next to lawyer Ronald J. Caron during his arraignment in 8th Circuit Court in Keene and is scheduled to appear for a probable cause hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 23. Judge Edward Burke said Smith can travel to medical appointments, to meet with his attorney or for job responsibilities if bail is posted, but he must submit to electronic monitoring and have no contact with his wife or son.

    KEENE, N.H. >> A Vernon, Vt., man must submit to a year of electronic monitoring and pay more than $100,000 in restitution stemming from charges filed after he struck a Hinsdale woman with his pick-up truck in Winchester in 2014. David Sage, 54, pleaded guilty in Cheshire County Superior Court on Wednesday to charges of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, conduct after an accident, and aggravated driving while intoxicated.

    HINSDALE, N.H. >> The status remained unclear Tuesday for two people taken from the scene after the vehicle they were riding in rolled onto its roof following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Old Brattleboro Road and Brattleboro Road the day before. According to the Hinsdale Police Department, officers responded to the area on a report of a two-vehicle roll-over at roughly 4:45 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22. Officers eventually learned Kosei Carty, 22, of Keene, was eastbound on Brattleboro Road in a 2004 Subaru Legacy and was making a left turn onto Old Brattleboro Road when he crossed the path of Teah Golembeski, 22, of Hinsdale, who was driving west in a 2001 Subaru Outback.
