    A 65-year-old Melrose woman was killed late Wednesday after a head-on collision on U.S. 301 just south of Hawthorne, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Margaret E. Welter was dead at the scene, while 27-year-old Kacey Faircloth, 3-year-old daughter Kendra and 2-year-old son Kaleb, all of Island Grove, suffered serious injuries, the Highway Patrol said.
