    Route 5 was shut down Sunday evening between the village center in Hartland and North Hartland because of an accident involving a phone company's utility bucket truck. The mishap occurred next to the small cemetery that sits alongside Route 5 about a quarter mile south of the overpass that crosses nearby Interstate 91. Hartland Fire Chief John Sanders said the Fairpoint Communications truck was headed north on Route 5 when the accident happened and it ended up on its side across the pavement.

James went to elementary school in Hartland and graduated from Woodstock Union High School where he made lifelong friendships.

The First Congregational Church on Station Road in Hartland will host Musical Potpourri on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 4 p.m. Some members of "The Moonlighters" Big Band will present some great music in a saxophone ensemble as well as in a combo group.

    By Eric Francis, Standard Correspondent WHITE RIVER JUNCTION - Police say a Hartland resident admitted to smoking marijuana and drinking on Oct. 24 before he rolled his pickup truck with four friends on board into the front porch of an apartment building in White River Junction and then fled the scene on foot. Christopher Goodwin, 23, pleaded innocent on Tuesday afternoon to misdemeanor charges of drunk driving - first offense, leaving the scene of an accident and two counts of violating court-ordered conditions of pre-trial release.
