    A despondent veteran was successfully talked back from the edge of the Quechee Gorge early Wednesday afternoon after the Veteran's Administration Hospital rushed one of their psychiatrists to the scene in a VA police cruiser to assist Hartford police and firefighters with the effort. The entire incident lasted for about an hour and traffic across the Route 4 bridge crossing over the 163-foot-deep chasm was completely shut down for ten minutes to allow negotiators to hear clearly what the man was saying as he stood on a rocky slope near the bridge's western abutment.
