    (WTNH) Now that the weather is finally warming up, it's a perfect time for the Connecticut River Ferries to open for the season. They start running today. The Chester-Hadlyme Ferry made its first run at 7 a.m. It was supposed to start running on April 1, but maintenance issues caused a delay.

    The country's oldest, continuously-operating ferry and its southern counterpart will have to wait at least another few weeks before making their 2015 debut. Officials at the state Department of Transportation said the two Connecticut River ferries - Rocky Hill-Glastonbury and Chester-Hadlyme - normally begin operations on April 1. The Rocky-Glastonbury ferry won't operate due due to high water and ice issues along the river and has been delayed a week.
