    GREENSBURG, Ind. (AP) -- The treasurer of a volunteer fire department in southeastern Indiana has turned herself in to face accusations she defrauded the department of nearly $50,000. Indiana State Police say 47-year-old Laurie L. Swegman of Greensburg surrendered Wednesday morning at the Decatur County Jail. She faces a preliminary charge of defrauding a financial institution. If convicted, she could face two to eight years in prison. Investigators say Swegman transferred about $47,000 from the Adams Township Fire Department's bank account to the accounts of her and her children between August 2011 and October 2013. Swegman was released on $30,000 bond. There was no answer at the department or Swegman's home Wednesday when The Associated Press called seeking comment.

    GREENSBURG, Ind. - Marion Dale Klingman, age 89, formerly of Richmond, died Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at his residence. Dale was born October 24, 1924, in Richmond, to Harry and Edith Klingman. He was a World War II veteran who served with the United States Marine Corps at the Battle of Guadalcanal. Dale retired from NATCO as an inspector after 35 years. He spent many years in Florida. Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf, and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Josephine "Betty" Moran Klingman, to whom he was married on November 4, 1983; children, Phillip Klingman and Teresa (Cliff) McCann, both of Georgia, and Mark Klingman and Daniel (Colleen) Klingman, both of Richmond; 12 grandchildren; stepchildren, Linda (Don) Criswell of Greensburg, Indiana, and Marabeth Selm of Hollywood, Florida; 5 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arthur and Donald Klingman; one sister, Deloris Nolte; first wife, Eloise Klingman; and stepson, Robert James Meyer. Visitation for Marion Dale Klingman will be from 1 to 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
