    David Allan Munoz, 42 of Banning, was sentenced to serve time in the state prison for his part of the rash of burglaries occurring in the Green Valley Lake area earlier this year. As reported in the Alpenhorn News, Munoz, and an accomplice identified as girlfriend Shannon Kay Kite, 46, also of Banning, had allegedly been burglarizing homes in the Green Valley Lake area, using a reported stolen vehicle parked in the forest, as their base of operations.

    'Chipper Day,' sponsored by the San Bernardino County Fire Department, is coming to Green Valley Lake on Saturday, May 16. This year's Chipper Day will provide Green Valley Lake residents an absolutely free opportunity to dispose of tree branches and twigs that could otherwise pose a serious fire hazard this summer and fall. Residents are asked to bring limbs and branches that are no more than 10 inches in diameter or 10-feet-long to the Green Valley Lake Fire Department, which is located at 33596 Green Valley Lake Road, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 16. Once there, they will be ground into recyclable sawdust and wood chips.

On February 19, deputies from the Twin Peaks Sheriff's Station reported they had recovered a black, 2002, Hyundai Elantra, reported as stolen from the Banning area on February 12, in the area of Holcomb Creek Road and an Edison dirt access road in the Green Valley Lake area.
