    The 1891 Fredonia Opera House is holding a community-wide fundraiser at the Bob Evans Restaurant on Vineyard Drive in Dunkirk on Tuesday, Dec. 2, from noon to 9 p.m. Anyone dining at the restaurant that day who presents a special flyer will see 15 percent of their total bill donated by Bob Evans to the Opera House. Flyers are available by calling the Opera House at 679-0891.

    On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, I am writing to express our gratitude to all who contributed to the food drive at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Fredonia on Nov. 15 and 16. Thanks to the Rev. C.J. Westfield, who promoted the efforts, Carol Stafford and Tom Muldowney, who assisted in organizing the drive, and the help provided by young adults from the parish's Confirmation class and Catholic Youth Organization program - who braved this weekend's cold temperatures to accept the donations in the Church parking lot - made this year's food drive a huge success.

    The public's response to a request for help identifying motorcyclists connected to a fatal accident has led to three individuals being identified by the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office. On Nov. 11, deputies and emergency personnel responded to an accident at Chautauqua and Maytum roads to find a vehicle had left the road and the driver, Richard Caldwell, 57, of Fredonia, was pronounced dead at the scene.
