Rising stand-up comedian Pete Correale will be a guest on TBS' "Conan," with host Conan O'Brien, airing at 11 p.m. Correale, who has appeared on other late-night shows with Jay Leno, David Letterman and Carson Daily, told the OBSERVER he is looking forward to appearing on O'Brien's show for the first time.

She wrote a piece offering reflections from coffee drinkers across the region about their favorite places to get a cup, which left me wondering: Where did you have your first cup of coffee? And long before the days of Cafe Kubal , Freedom of Espresso - or even Starbucks - what were the best places .... the best diners, restaurants and coffee shops ... for getting a cup of coffee in Central New York? I grew up west of Buffalo, but my first cup of coffee has a distinct Syracuse connection: I was 15 or 16, and it was in a Carrols fast-food restaurant in Fredonia.

    When the closing of Carriage House was announced by its parent company ConAgra in March, there were 395 workers in the Fredonia Carriage House, seven more at its Talcott Street facility and 21 more workers at the Lakeside Warehouse on Stegelski Avenue. Layoffs were originally scheduled to begin Oct. 24 with the plant to close by May 24, 2015.
