    Forest Park Health Campus where she had resided for three years. She was born August 16, 1920 in Richmond, Indiana to Charles and Muriel Chesnut Morrison. Mary Jane married John H. Stapleton on August 9, 1947 in Richmond and celebrated their 63rd anniversary before his passing on March 19, 2011. As a young woman she was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and enlisted in the Marines, but was not called to active duty before World War II ended. Mary Jane retired from Belden in 1978 after 28 1 2 years. She was a switchboard operator, timekeeper and spent most of her years as secretary in the Wire Mill office. She was an active member of the 25 Year Club and an officer of the Belden Live Wires. Mary Jane enjoyed many years of part time employment at Hoppe Jewelers beginning when Mary and Bob Hoppe had their first store on South 8th Street. After her retirement she enjoyed working part time at Teacher's Helpers, co-owned by her dear friend Geneva Menze. She volunteered at Reid Hospital, Oak Ridge Convalescent Center, Community Food Pantry, the Chamber of Commerce, in her daughter's classroom at Rose Hamilton Elementary School and served on the board of Interfaith Apartments. She enjoyed bowling, reading, crossword puzzles, playing solitaire and singing in the I.U. East Community Chorus. She and John spent part of their retirement years in the 1980's and 90's traveling the U.S., particularly the southwestern states. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where she sang in the Senior Choir, served on the Evangelism Board and volunteered in the church office. Survivors include daughter Debbie Stapleton, special daughter Suzie Oaks, son Jim Stapleton, daughter-in-law Lannie Stapleton; Granddaughter Julie (Cory) Dawson of Greenwood, Grandson Brian (Jamie) Stapleton of Pendleton, Great Granddaughters Rachel & Amanda Dawson, Kinley & Kyla Stapleton; sister Carol (Billie) Cox, sisters-in-law Helen Morrison, Thelma Wray, Betty Jane Stapleton, Olevia Fowler, Janette Stapleton, many nieces and nephews and special friend Marcella Strikeleather. She also leaves behind many special friends who reside at Forest Park, especially those in the 100 hall. The family would like to thank all the staff who were like extended family and lovingly cared for her. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Helen MacEldowney, JoAnn Brown, Jeanne Allen and brothers Walter, Robert and Don Morrison. Visitation for Mary Jane Stapleton will be from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary, 32 South 11th Street, Richmond, IN. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor James Culver officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, P.O.
