    Fitchburg Public Schools on Monday night cut three days out of April vacation, following a discussion at a School Committee meeting over modifying the school calendar to make up for snow days. With the state smothered by a continuous chain of snowstorms, Fitchburg schools have had seven snow days so far this year, and without an adjustment to the calendar, the school year wouldn't end until June 19 -- assuming there are no more snow days this winter.

Mr. Saulnier worked for many years at Colonial Press and Colonial Cooperative Press, in Clinton. He retired from Publisher's Storage and Shipping, Fitchburg, in 2000.

    A former female sex-education teacher at North Central Charter Essential School in Fitchburg who pleaded not guilty to raping a 14-year-old male student during the 2012-2013 school year will have a trial date assigned during a hearing on March 13. The former teacher, Rachelle Gendron, was scheduled to have had the trial date assigned on Monday, but her attorney requested a continuance until March, said Timothy J. Connolly, a spokesman for Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. Gendron was arraigned in August 2013 on charges of enticement of a child under 16-years-old and five counts of rape aggravated by age difference. The charges carry a state-mandated 10-year sentence.
