According to one of the proposed ordinances, landlords would need to receive a certificate of inspection from the city for each "unit or property being offered for rent" every time there is a change in occupancy.

    During its Oct. 6 meeting, Fairlawn City Council voted in favor of permitting a "specific waiver of its restriction for the development" of the Summit Mall property to allow for a new free-standing restaurant. Pending approval from the city's Planning Commission, a BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse would be constructed near Dillard's, in the area between West Market Street and Ghent Road.
