    A Novato woman linked to a homicide in Sonoma County was suspected of stealing a cache of guns from a Fairfax residence just days before the murder, police said. Stephanie Hill, 37, was named in a criminal complaint Tuesday as one of three suspects connected to the slaying last week of Olga Mary Dinelli, 84, of Penngrove, according to the Press Democrat newspaper.

    It's going to cost taxpayers a pretty penny to study rerouting 1,000 feet of trail near Fairfax, and at least one county supervisor isn't smiling. The Board of Supervisors has hired consultant Amy Skews-Cox of Ross for $45,152 to conduct an "initial study" of the environmental impact of rerouting a path now involving 1,000 feet of roadbed and replacing it with 1,100 feet of trail skirting the "Plunge" in the Loma Alta Open Space Preserve.

    After turkey vultures were found poisoned by euthanasia in recent months throughout Marin County, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife is urging residents to properly dispose of euthanized animals. The vultures were found comatose, mostly in central Marin but as far west as Fairfax, and lab results indicated poisoning by pentobarbital, a drug used frequently by veterinarians to euthanize livestock, horses and house pets.
