    The California Public Utilities Commission has issued a preliminary decision denying a request from several counties and municipalities - including the county of Marin, Fairfax and Ross - to allow local governments or multi-unit buildings to opt out of smart meter installation by Pacific Gas and Electric and other state utilities. "I know for a lot of residents in Fairfax the decision does not resolve the issues that we raised," Fairfax Councilman Larry Bragman said, briefing fellow council members on the decision Wednesday night.

    Marin County Open Space District has informed the horse owners at Sky Ranch in Fairfax that they are recommending that the horses be evicted and the horse owners will need to remove their horses and personal property from the ranch by Jan 15th, 2015. Carl Somers, Chief of Planning and Acquisition for the Marin County Open Space District , cited in his letter to the Sky Ranch Horse Association that December 1st was the deadline for MCOSD to advise the Marin Open Space Trust to waive the eviction notice in their purchase contract.

    On Wednesday night, the Fairfax Town Council will consider adding its voice to a growing chorus calling on large government pension funds to divest their holdings in fossil fuel investments. At the request of 350Marin.org , Fairfax Councilman David Weinsoff has asked the council to approve a resolution calling on the California Public Employees' Retirement System and the Marin County Employees' Retirement Association to divest.
