    Cyclists riding between Fairfax and the San Geronimo Valley have a much safer ride now that the Marin County Department of Public Works has widened a 3,300-foot stretch of westbound Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. DPW engineers said the $237,000 project was completed on October 16 with pavement striping following two months of construction.

    Having been involved in the REST program for the past six years, it was wonderful to read in last week's Marin IJ that the Fairfax Town Council had unanimously voted to help financially support a year-round home for the many homeless in Marin County. For the past six years, members of many Marin churches, parishes and synagogues have provided a place for the homeless to spend the night off the streets and out of the winter cold and rain on a nightly rotating basis from mid-November through mid-April.
