    Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens reports that on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014 at approximately 5:44 p.m., his office received a report of a traffic accident on 420th Avenue approximately one mile northeast of Wallingford. Upon investigation officials determined Allisha Davis, 31, of Estherville was traveling southbound on 420th Avenue approximately a half mile south of 210th Street when she lost control of the 2000 Oldsmobile van she was driving.

    Lee Christensen became the first Estherville Lincoln Central runner to win the Lakes Conference Cross Country individual title in 15 years with his victory at the conference meet on Tuesday. The ELC junior paced the eight-team field with a time of 16 minutes, 58 seconds, with a good margin ahead of Western Christian's Tristan Hulstein, who finished in 17:16.

The band wrapped up its season with its third straight superior rating at the Iowa State Marching Band Festival in Fort Dodge last Saturday, Oct. 11. The group earned 72.9 points and earned "Superior Ratings" in the following captions: Color Guard, Music General Effect, Marching & Maneuvering General Effect, and Marching & Maneuvering Execution.

The building will house training labs for environmental studies and water quality, electrical engineering, HVAC and wind energy students as well as host industrial training.
