    An Enfield man pleaded guilty Wednesday to first-degree manslaughter and cruelty to persons charges in connection with the death of his wife last May. John Dewees Jr., 50, is expected to face 25 years in prison, suspended after he serves 15 years, and three years of probation, according to The Courant. Dewees is scheduled to be sentenced on June 18. Dewees originally was charged with manslaughter after Enfield Police investigated the death of Anja Dewees, 45. However, state's attorney Vicki Melchiorre increased the charge to murder following more investigation, according to the report.

It is a beautiful paved trail that runs from Pearl Street in Enfield, crosses the river alongside the Route 190 bridge, works its way down under the bridge on the Suffield side and travels beside the Connecticut River and over the canal dam. It runs another 4 miles between the river and the canal, all the way to Windsor Locks.
