Carnegie In the late 70’s, there lived a young woman in Dallas who was unhappily married, overweight, depressed and considering suicide. She had lost all self-respect and confidence in herself and greatly disliked the person she had become. Her life was a sea of despair with no visible way out. She had deteriorated to the point she barely left her bed and did not wish to live, but could not face taking her own life. On the morning of revelation, she decided since she could not take her own life she had best get on with the business of living. She decided to start by exercising to lose weight, followed by getting a job in sales, something she had previously been good at. After a few weeks of working out at the local health club, the manager, seeing her obvious misery, loaned her a set of tapes by Zig Ziglar called “How to Stay Motivated.” The tapes talked about being able to “see” or visualize your goal in order to reach it. She began practicing seeing herself thin and successful. She also began selling gym memberships. Comment?
