    Michigan State Police officials confirmed in a press release on Oct. 15 that Keith McCullough, 72, of Eastpointe, entered the freeway at Shook Road and was traveling east in the westbound lanes. The Macomb County Sheriff's Office received multiple phone calls from witnesses in the minutes before the collision occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m. McCullough, who was driving a 2011 Toyota Prius, struck a 2001 Dodge Neon head-on in the left travel lane.

Those interested must submit their letters by 4 p.m. Oct. 20. City Manager Steve Duchane said that the Eastpointe City Council would conduct interviews Oct. 23 and make a final decision Nov. 10. The new council member would fill the seat until a special election Feb. 24. "Persons interested in participating as candidates on Feb. 24 would need to file a petition no later than Wednesday, Nov. 12," Duchane said.
