    East Lyme - One lane of Interstate 95 southbound was closed during a portion of Thursday morning's commute, as state police and local fire companies worked to clear the remains of a car fire between Exits 74 and 73. The incident, which occurred at about 8:30 a.m., resulted in a traffic backup through the Interstate 395 interchange. No injuries were reported, according to state police.

U.S. Senator Chris Murphy, D-Conn., U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., and Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2nd district, made the announcement in a news release Wednesday.

According to the New England Regional Council of Carpenters union, Massachusetts firms WJC Construction, KBF Flooring and D+E Flooring were misclassifying employees as independent contractors.
