    A 40-year-old bicyclist killed in a crash east of San Ramon on Saturday morning was the vice principal of a Berkeley high school and was slated to become principal of a school in Napa. The bicyclist, identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as Dublin resident Herman Shum, was part of a group of 50 to 60 people cycling east on Highland Road around 9:45 a.m. Saturday when the crash occurred, according to the California Highway Patrol.

    A cyclist who was killed in a crash near Livermore on Saturday morning was a 40-year-old man from Dublin who was wearing a helmet when he flipped off his bicycle and landed on the opposite side of the road, where he was hit by a truck, according to the California Highway Patrol. The man, whose identity is not yet being released, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Highland Road west of Manning Road.
