    The Danville Public Works Department will begin their expanded Fall Leaf Sweeping operations on November 3. Officials say city crews will work in shifts from 5:00 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. for the next four to five weeks, weather permitting. Officials are also reminding residents that raking or blowing leaves into the street violates City Code.

    An eastbound lane of Interstate 74 in Vermilion County that closed following a semitrailer tractor accident is now open, authorities said Tuesday afternoon. The crash occurred on the interstate at milepost 210, between Danville and Oakwood, around 5:30 a.m. According to an Illinois State Police report, a 2007 International truck pulling a 2014 Wabash trailer was heading east when the driver, a 39-year-old Normal man, hit his brakes abruptly to avoid hitting a deer that had wandered into the road.
