    A San Jose woman was arrested early this morning after allegedly leading officers on a chase in a stolen car through San Ramon and Danville and crashing head-on into a police patrol car. The chase began a short time before 3 a.m. after officers spotted a woman at the Shell gas station at 3048 Crow Canyon Place standing next to a Honda that had been reported stolen, according to police.

    A husband and wife from Danville were indicted in federal court on charges of stealing money from an Islamic educational institute and filing false tax returns, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced today. U.S. Attorney Melinda Haag charged Kamran Azizi and Hedyeh Shoar with conspiracy to defraud the government and charged Azizi with two counts of filing false tax returns.

    An elderly woman who died after a collision in Pleasant Hill on Monday has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as 82-year-old Danville resident Billye Chilcott. Chilcott was driving on Contra Costa Boulevard near Taylor Boulevard around 11 a.m. Monday when she lost control of her car, drove onto the sidewalk, knocked over signs and hit a young man holding a bicycle, Pleasant Hill police said.
