    Crestwood has filed lawsuits to try to recover more than $350,000 in legal fees from two former employees who were convicted for their roles in delivering tainted drinking water to residents over more than 20 years. In addition, for the first time, village officials Wednesday said Crestwood will seek to recover money from former Mayor Chester Stranczek for his legal defense in cases connected to the water scandal.

Crestwood is seeking to recover $202,475 from Theresa Neubauer, who served as the village's police chief after her years of service in the water department; and $152,600 from Frank Scaccia, the former water department operator for the suburb, according to a lawsuit filed by attorney Nick Valdaez in Cook County Circuit Court.

Presta said the village board will vote on the settlement offer at a meeting at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crestwood Civic Center, 14025 Kostner Ave. "I can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with the village of Crestwood," said a spokeswoman for Attorney General Lisa Madigan.
