    West Hills College Coalinga will begin awarding a $1,000 scholarship each year to a student majoring in agriculture in honor of deceased local farmer Howard Mouren. Mouren, whose family history in the area dates back to 1860 when his grandparents ran a hotel in Huron, died in November at 92. Mouren, who worked with his brother Bill, farmed grapes, almonds and pistachios and owned a feed lot in Coalinga.

    Two of three teens suspected of stealing from a liquor store in Coalinga were arrested Christmas Eve and booked into the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Campus on charges of robbery, conspiracy, participating in a criminal street gang and probation violations, police said. On Friday, the two teens, ages 15 and 17, along with a 14-year-old accomplice entered the Lourenco Liquor Store on Elm Avenue in Coalinga and stole several bottles of alcohol from the shelves, police said.
