    Three Bladen County towns were awarded almost $2 million in loans and grants by the State Water Infrastructure Authority to help pay for drinking water and wastewater projects, the N.C. Department of Energy and Natural Resources announced Thursday. The Town of Clarkton will receive $1.097 million to help fund three projects.

It looked like it would be an easy win for the Blue Devils after they led by 11 points, but the Cougars wouldn't give up and tied the game at 30-all at the end of regulation play.

    A plea agreement that remained on the table for several months was accepted at the 11th hour in Bladen County Superior Court this week, sending a Clarkton man to prison for at least six years for assault. According to the Bladen County District Attorney's Office, Shawn Nathan Faulk, 25, decided to take the guilty plea on one count of felony melicious maiming on Tuesday.
