The landfill closed in 1987 and now sits beneath Roberta French Horse Park, near ball fields and between the Glenn and Old Glenn highways off South Birchwood Road.

    An upset victory proved to be a bridge too far to cross for the Eagle River football team, which fell 50-13 to rival Chugiak Friday night at Chugiak's Tom Huffer Sr. Stadium. The game was the inaugural "Battle of the Bridge," a newly-named rivalry game between the Cook Inlet Conference's two suburban schools, which are separated by about six miles and the Eagle River bridge across the Glenn Highway.
