Troopers say a preliminary investigation indicates that a 17-year-old boy from Dayton was driving east on Highway 50 just before 1:15 p.m. Monday when he failed to yield to oncoming traffic and tried to make a left turn onto Pinecone Road in front of a 2005 silver Toyota Scion that was heading west at the time.
