Casares, 46 of Woodland, was heading eastbound at 5:30 a.m. on Highway 16 west of County Road 81 in a 1999 GMC Yukon at 45 to 50 mph when she observed at the last moment that a large tree had fallen across the roadway, blocking both eastbound and westbound traffic lanes.
