Besides the gross vehicular manslaughter charge, Lydia Casares, 46, also pleaded not guilty to possession of methamphetamine and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, following Tuesday's fatal accident.

    A Woodland woman was killed when the vehicle in which she was travelling hit a downed tree west of Capay Tuesday morning. According to the California Highway Patrol, driver Lydia M. Casares, 46 of Woodland, was heading eastbound at 5:30 a.m. on Highway 16 west of County Road 81 in a 1999 GMC Yukon at 45 to 50 mph when she observed at the last moment that a large tree had fallen across the roadway, blocking both eastbound and westbound traffic lanes.
