    Virtually all of the state's lawmakers have signed onto a letter urging the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to conduct a study on best to reduce the harmful algal blooms in the Great Lakes that shut down Toledo's water supply in August. Sens. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio and Rob Portman, R-Ohio, joined every member of Ohio's U.S. House delegation but House Speaker John Boehner, R-West Chester, whose leadership position means he rarely signs delegation letters, to urge officials at NOAA to immediately begin work on a congressionally-mandated study into the causes and how best to prevent harmful algal blooms, which have increasingly threatened Ohio bodies of water including Buckeye Lake and Grand Lake St. Marys as well.
